Project: Parkway Gate ‐ Student Accommodation – Manchester
Application: Through Wall High Rise building Application

Over 10,000m2 of Envirosips 125mm structural insulated panel system was used for the construction of 3 prominent student accommodation blocks in the city of Manchester. The through wall system was designed and installed by ESL and is the first major UK project using sips panel technology for high rise building applications. The buildings are located off the Mancunian way in city of Manchester and are a landmark in modern methods of construction. The Envirosips building system was installed outboard of the concrete frame via a specially designed and engineered connection bracket system allowing for all structural loadings and building movement while also achieving minimum cold bridging to maintain the consistent high levels of thermal performance provided by the system.

The system is an ideal backing wall for fixing all the various façade finishes to, including flat composite panels and corten steel rainscreen system with very little adjustment needed to ensure a visual flat facade finish .Interface details with other building components such as windows is simplified with the factory engineered panels having built in timbers for all apertures. Site installation time was also significantly reduced due to the speed of construction and weathered in the building for internal trades to progress with works at an earlier stage.
